Its really scared when you see beginners operating some of the equipments in a wrong method coz this can be a dangerous tool. Some basics things to share :-
WINCHING GLOVE:-
Requires you to to hold the wire with your hand. Make sure that you protect your hand with leather gloves. 
STRAP/TREE TRUNK PROTECTOR :-
This is to secure your anchor point and to protect the tree from bad damaged caused by the pulling strenght of winching operations.
SHACKLE:-
You might need a U-shaped shackle to connect the hook to the strap and winch and in other situations. Its is convenient to have several sizes in your vehicle.
SNATCH BLOCK :-
This is a very important equipment that can help you to extent you winch pulling strenght. You will need this to make a double line or triple line or to change the direction of towing.
